 Freedom panel leaks
Has anyone had issues with their hardtop leaking right above the stereo? (only when applying the brakes) I have had my 2011 back to the dealer 6 times for this issue. Two new seal kits and water testing; with a water hose - a joke! I don't know how to to proceed. Has anyone had their top totally replaced? I have thought about demanding a new top. I am so frustrated!

 Re: Freedom panel leaks
We had the same problem on my daughters 2008. Same scenario, relaced seals, replaced latches, lubricated the seals, tightened the the latches, etc . Finally got it to quit leaking, but now she is scared to take the panels off for fear of it all starting again...Really sucks that a soft top is more capable of sealing out the rain than a modern freedom top! If your Jeep is new and under warranty, I know it is a pain... but keep bringing it back to dealer. And start demanding a complete new top. Maybe that'll make them get serious about fixing it!

My boss has an 08 and it had that same problem. I think she took it back a couple of times before they fixed it.

 Re: Freedom panel leaks
If you had it back six times then quit going to the service dept. My step-daughter did that and I told her to see the main man in charge, like the owner of the dealership. He doesnt know about your problem and if you do it right youre pretty much going to get it resolved. Like right in the show room when customers are looking at the new models.

 Re: Freedom panel leaks
So the leaking hard top is across the board, all years on the JK? bummer. I have been looking at LJs, but have come across a couple JKs in my price range, and thought I liked the idea of the "freedom" top, although now it doesn't seem so free.

 Re: Freedom panel leaks
Curious as to how much water is leaking? Some drops, a trickle, or a river runs through it? Perhaps there is something pinched to tight, blocking the water from running out where it is supposed to. Or an alignment issue with 1 of the 3 panels allowing a micro gap. Try putting it in a dark gargage, sit inside while someone shines a bright spot light over the roof and look for light shining through. Or try parking with the front end uphill, spray water on it, check for leaks. Then try parking with the front end down, repeat and see if it leaks. One way may be better. If it isn't bad, just put a sponge or towel on the dash to catch the drip. Not great, but it would keep the water from going everywhere on your dash. If you were my buddy Tracy, I would tell you to get some charcoal, pile it up in an outdoor grill, place it in the JEEP, light it and shut all doors and windows. Then just look for where the smoke comes out!

 Re: Freedom panel leaks
Thanks for the info and ideas. I might try the charcoal test! I have another appointment at the dealer tomorrow morning. It doesn't leak just sitting in the driveway (a small incline). It will only drip in when moving and braking. I have tried to adjust the panels a couple of different times over the past two days with no luck on stopping the drips. Wish me luck!

 Re: Freedom panel leaks
That is exactly what my daughters did...once you moved the vehicle it would drip right on the radio.

 Re: Freedom panel leaks
It might still be called a jeep but they sure don't make em' like they used to. A wrangler isn't supposed to have power windows and locks.
